ABOUT DON
Don
Calloway was born and raised in St. Louis County. His parents, Don Sr.
and Jonell, worked extremely hard to provide a loving and healthy
household for Don, his sister Lori, and brother David. Don Sr., a
veteran of the Vietnam War, and Jonell, are both career employees of
the federal government civilian offices, where they have given a
combined 60 years of national service.
Don’s parents stressed upon him at an
early age the value of hard work and academic achievement. Don was
very active in college at Jonell’s alma mater, Alabama A&M University,
where he was a scholar in political science and government, involved
with his fraternity and varsity baseball, and was elected President of
the Student Government Association. After college, Don attended the
Boston University School of Law, where he developed his skills in law
and constitutional processes, legislation drafting, and discovered a
passion for using the law as a vehicle for advancing public policy to
serve the less fortunate.
After law school, Don became licensed to practice in Missouri and
Illinois, and he is now a civil litigation attorney in private
practive. He maintains an active pro bono practice, providing
much-needed top quality legal assistance to indigent clients. His
intellect, vigor, and record of community service has earned him the
support of elected officials, pastors, neighbors, and comunity leaders
throughout the St. Louis region.
Don is an active member of Greater Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist
Church, in North St. Louis. At Greater Mt. Carmel, Don serves with his
dad Don Sr. on the Board of Deacons, and assists with church legal
affairs.
In 2008 at age 29, Don was elected to represent the 71st District in
the Missouri House of Representatives, in which he currently serves.
Don sits on the Rules, General Laws, Tax Policy and Animal Agriculture
committees. He has developed a reputation in the Missouri House for
constitutional analysis and argument, and for being a vocal advocate
for progressive values on the House floor.
Don is married to Sarah Jane Forman Esq. Sarah Jane currently teaches
law at Washington University School of Law, and has dedicated her
legal career to serving indigent clients. They are blessed with a
one-year-old son Donald III, who goes by "Cal". Don, Sarah Jane, and
Cal live in Bel Nor, right in the heart of the community that Don grew
up in.
